The city of Sarasota is located on the southwestern coast of Florida. With a population of approximately 53,000 people, it is the county seat of Sarasota County.The boundaries include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The Keys that are included in the boundary of Sarasota are Lido Key, St. Armands Key, Otter Key, Coon Key, Bird Key, and portions of Longboat Key and Siesta Key. At one time,Siesta Key was called Sarasota Key.
