What role light plays in photography

One major consideration in photography is in the aspect of lighting.  There has been too much emphasis on equipments with regards to taking photos.  Or there is a lot of talk with regards to some techniques for taking quality pictures.  But nothing is as important as knowing how the light affects the quality of the photographs you take.  So in this article we are going to take a look how big a factor light is in making or breaking your photos.

First and foremost there is lighting termed hard light. This is the light that comes directly from the sun when it is not obscured.  What this type of lighting can do to your photos is create very bright parts on some of it.  Or it can create very dark portions on the photos.  This is very important especially when taking photos during weddings. Because one bad lighting can ruin many pictures. Understanding this has helped me in my San Diego photographer service.

Next there is a lighting which is termed as soft light. This is usually produced by cloudy days and are usually smooth with not too many shadows.  You can take advantage of this type of lighting to produce great quality photos. The main reason for this is because it allows the many colors to come out vividly on film.  This works very well for commercial type of photos similar to the clients I have worked for in my San Diego corporate  photographer service.

Finally, you can take advantage of artificial lighting to shoot your photos. This is the lighting such as the lights you would use in a photo studio. This is good for those family portraits you take because you can control how the picture relates to your lighting.  This has served my well in my event photography San Diego service.

As you can see the role of lighting in photography can make or break your picture.  If you understand what they are for and how to best utilize them, you will produce top quality photos.
