As the city of Austin, Texas has grown in recent years, lofts have become a more popular option among professionals and students. A resurgence in the neighborhoods close to downtown has led to an increase in popularity of Austin lofts. In addition to being the capital of the state of Texas, Austin is also an educational hotspot, being home to the University of Texas, the flagship university of Texas. Austin is home to a large number of college graduates working in professional fields. With a strong economy, this mid-sized Texas city is often rated as one of the most livable cities in the United States.

Lofts differ from more traditional apartments and condos, as they tend to have more open space and higher ceilings. After consider the cost of a loft compared to a house, the convenience of being downtown, and all of the benefits that location affords, you start to realize how great an option lofts really are. The recently renovated 2nd street dining and shopping area is booming, and the well-known 6th Street District continues to attract nightlife.

In addition to the incredible nightlfe, downtown Austin is filled with shops, cafes, museums and art galleries. One huge advantage of being so close to everything is that there is a good change you will not have to drive to work, or the grocery store and hopefully not even to your favorite nightlife destination. Despite their close proximity to everything that Austin has to offer, most lofts in Austin are just far enough away from the nightlife hotspots that they offer relative quiet during evening hours.

Besides the city attractions of Austin lofts, there are also plenty of outdoor activities that are easily accessible within a few miles of Austin’s core. These outdoor attractions include Lady Bird Lake, miles of Greenbelt, trails at Town Lake, and a number of great parks. Whether you like to run, boat, bike, or walk down a nice trail, these popular outdoor recreation areas have something to offer anyone who wants to step out of the city and play in nature.

While it’s no longer a secret that lofts in Austin offer one of the best deals in the city, they still remain affordable. If you are new to the city of Austin, it is a good idea to spend a few days familiarizing yourself with the different areas of the city where most lofts are located. You will want to first know where you will be working, so that you can make sure you are comfortable with the proximity of your future residence to your place of work. While Austin doesn’t exactly have the worst traffic out there, it does tend to get crowded– especially around the times people are going to and returning from work. If you’ll be biking or walking to work this will be less of an issue.

Your next decision is whether it’s best to buy or rent, as lofts exist as both apartments and condos. Before bothering to drive around town, you might want to take a few hours to search online and see what you find. Keep in mind, however, that some listings may not be current so there might be residences that you don’t know about because they aren’t listed yet. By talking with a local real estate agent, you can find out about the most recently available units that may not even be publicly listed yet.

Lofts come in a variety of different styles, with more styles available than traditional apartments. Some lofts are in converted warehouses while others are on the top floor of apartment buildings or hotels. Spend some time and decide what type of loft you prefer and then you can narrow your search down to that type of residence.
